This course will help you improve your reading, writing and numeracy skills as well as helping you to develop a personal profile and to identify the career path you are best suited to.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy
Migrant English
This course is designed to help everyone improve their English language skills through literacy and numeracy activities, including newly arrived migrants and refugees settling into Australia. The total number of hours that the course will run is 100 hours.
The program will lead to a greater understanding on English for people who currently have little or no English skills offering adults the English language skills they need to live and work in the community; get or keep a job (paid or voluntary); gain entry into further study or complete a qualification.
Improving your English language skills can also help you to communicate with others in your community and to build your language and life skills.
Skills Review
This course is designed to identify and provide basic skills and knowledge of studying at Murray ACE. The course will also cover what is involved in the various industries that students have enrolled to study in (e.g. the community services sector or the hair and beauty sector). There will be a focus on key employability skills such as communication, working with others and self-development.
The program is aimed at entry level individuals to provide a first step into further training in community services or hair and beauty. The course is designed to introduce students to the process of studying. This will include safe and successful researching on the internet, paraphrasing, referencing as well as personal development that will help with the study process.
